Job summary

AECOM in the UK is actively seeking a Principal Ecologist to join our growing Nature team across multiple sites, with a flexible hybrid working model. You’ll help lead high-quality ecological consultancy work for a wide range of projects and clients, shaping outcomes in power, infrastructure, environment and transport sectors.

You’ll manage surveys, licensing, impact assessments and expert chapters for environmental statements, while mentoring colleagues and expanding our technical capabilities

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in ecology or an associated subject.
• Chartered Ecologist or Chartered Environmentalist status, and licences for protected species surveys/licensing.
• Experience leading ecological surveys/licensing/impact assessment.
• Experience in work-winning, managing projects, budgets and stakeholder discussions.
• Experience in reviewing technical work and supporting wider team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support delivery of ecological consultancy and advisory services to internal and external clients.
• Oversee plan, schedule and organise all phases of ecological project work within budgets and resources.
• Develop robust, pragmatic solutions to complex ecological issues.
• Lead and support ecology chapters for environmental statements and licences.
• Author or technically check project deliverables to ensure high quality outputs.
• Support development of our technical capabilities.
