Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Consultant Ecologist to join our Nature team in the UK&I, delivering ecology programs and managing projects for national and international clients. You will contribute to species surveys, habitat assessments, data capture, and reporting, with opportunities for mentoring and developing skills within a supportive environment.

The role covers a range of projects across energy, water, renewables, defence and transport sectors, with hybrid working options and internal training

Qualifications

• Experience in ecology-related roles in public/private sectors and leading field surveys.
• Knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and policy, including EcIA processes.
• Experience with botanical identification and Phase 1 Habitat surveys.
• Adaptable with potential longer/unsociable hours and occasional travel.
• Strong report writing skills and ability to provide ecological advice to clients.

Responsibilities

• Organise and carry out desk studies and field habitat, botanical, protected and invasive species surveys.
• Analyse and interpret ecological data, supporting EcIA production and mitigation design.
• Deliver protected species surveys safely and design mitigation strategies.
• Act as Ecological Clerk of Works on construction projects.
