Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Associate Ecologist to join our UK offices, including Manchester, Leeds, Basingstoke, and more, working in our Nature team on large infrastructure projects and national/international work.

You will lead ecological planning, assessments, and client engagement while developing technical capabilities and mentoring colleagues in a supportive hybrid environment across multiple UK locations.

Qualifications

• Experience planning ecological services on UK/ Ireland projects.
• Strong understanding of wildlife conservation.
• Membership of a professional institution and working towards Chartership (e.g., CIEEM).
• Excellent field skills in protected species licences.
• Proactive Health and Safety approach.
• Mentoring ecology team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and delivery of ecological inputs for internal and external clients.
• Produce and technically review ecological assessments (PEA, Baseline Reports, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain).
• Provide technical leadership for proportionate and pragmatic solutions.
• Lead consultation with clients and project stakeholders including planning authorities and the public.
• Support development of technical capabilities and embed innovation/research.
• Lead the production of bids and tenders for ecological services.
• Mentor and support junior staff and peers.
