Job summary

Havens Hospices Basildon is hiring an Assistant Shop Manager to support the Shop Manager in running a busy store. The role is part-time with a flexible pattern of 3 days in 7, including a Saturday or Sunday.

You will lead a small team, manage stock, and help promote Gift Aid while delivering excellent customer service to our local community. The role offers an inclusive, supportive environment focused on Making every day count.

Qualifications

• GCSE or equivalent in Maths & English, or demonstrable good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Good IT skills and experience dealing with the public face to face and over the telephone.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and standard digital tools.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage the day to day running of the shop staff and volunteers, providing leadership and encouraging the team to maximise potential.
• Manage stock, maximise profit and minimise costs, and achieve sales targets, initiating marketing campaigns and promotions.
• Take full responsibility for managing the shop in the Shop Manager’s absence.
• Maintain awareness of developments in local charity shops and low-cost sector, updating the Shop Manager as required.
• Maintain and develop good communication with colleagues in other Havens Hospices Shops, local communities, and organisations.
• Provide cover for other Assistant Shop Managers from time to time in other stores, as required by the Area Manager.

We have an opportunity for an Assistant Shop Manager to join us in our popular and busy Basildon store.

This is a part-time position, with the working pattern worked flexibly, 3 days within 7 days, including a Saturday or Sunday.

Main duties of the job

You will support the Shop Manager in delivering sales, developing the team and shop, all whilst delivering an excellent standard of customer service within the local community.
