Job summary

British Red Cross in Truro is seeking an Assistant Shop Manager to lead a friendly charity shop team. This permanent role, 14 hours per week, offers a pro rata salary of £25,213 per annum and a chance to sharpen retail skills while supporting people in communities across the UK.

You’ll work with the shop manager to run a customer-focused shop, supervise volunteers, and help create a welcoming on-high-street window for the charity.

  • Strong customer service orientation and team leadership.
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of financial targets; IT skills beneficial.

What will a day in the life of a Assistant Shop Managerinvolve?
  • Collaborating with the shop manager to run a profitable, customer-focussed shop that is the 'window of the British Red Cross' on the high street.
  • Working on the shop floor, to coordinating activity “behind the scenes”, no two days are the same.
  • Fostering a brilliant shopping environment and provide an excellent customer experience in store.
  • Working collaboratively with the shop manager, you’ll oversee a team of dedicated volunteers, delivering their induction, management, and development.
To be a successful Assistant Shop Manager, what will you need?
  • To be retail superstar with the experience and know-how from working in a shop environment.
  • The traits of apeople-person, who enjoys providing an excellent customer experience, championing a team, and meeting people from all walks of life.
  • The mind of a commercially savvy individual, who has good awareness of financial targets and measures, alongside proven IT skills.
  • The ability to work flexibly to the needs of the store.
