Job summary

British Red Cross in Paignton is seeking an Assistant Shop Manager to lead a charity shop team, sharpening retail skills while supporting people in the community and beyond. The role includes managing volunteers and ensuring a great customer experience on the high street.

The ideal candidate brings retail experience, a people-focused mindset, commercial awareness of targets, and flexibility to meet store needs. This is a Permanent, part-time role with 28 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Retail experience from working in a shop environment.
• People-person who provides an excellent customer experience, champions a team, and meets people from all walks of life.
• Commercially savvy with awareness of financial targets and measures, plus IT skills.
• Ability to work flexibly to the needs of the store.

• Collaborating with the shop manager to run a profitable, customer-focused shop that is the ‘window of the British Red Cross’ on the high street.
• Working on the shop floor, coordinating activity behind the scenes; no two days are the same.
• Fostering a brilliant shopping environment and providing an excellent customer experience in store.
• Overseeing a team of dedicated volunteers, delivering their induction, management and development.

What will a day in the life of an Assistant Shop Managerinvolve?

• Collaborating with the shop manager to run a profitable, customer-focussed shop that is the ‘window of the British Red Cross’ on the high street.
  
• Working on the shop floor, to coordinating activity “behind the scenes”, no two days are the same.
  
• Fostering a brilliant shopping environment and provide an excellent customer experience in store.
  
• Working collaboratively with the shop manager, you’ll oversee a team of dedicated volunteers, delivering their induction, management, and development.

To be a successful Assistant Shop Manager, what will you need?

• To be retail superstar with the experience and know-how from working in a shop environment.
• The traits of apeople-person, who enjoys providing an excellent customer experience, championing a team, and meeting people from all walks of life.
• The mind of a commercially savvy individual, who has good awareness of financial targets and measures, alongside proven IT skills.
• The ability to workflexiblyto the needs of the store.
