Job summary

British Red Cross Corsham is seeking an Assistant Shop Manager for a part-time, permanent role. You will help run a customer-focused charity shop on the high street, work closely with the shop manager, and supervise a team of volunteers to deliver excellent service.

This role offers flexible working patterns, holidays, a contributory pension and learning opportunities. You’ll be part of a friendly, committed team that supports people in the local community and beyond, helping the charity sustain

Qualifications

• Retail experience in a shop environment.
• Strong customer service mindset and able to deliver an excellent experience.
• Experience supervising volunteers or a small team.
• Good IT skills including point-of-sale systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist the shop manager to run a profitable, customer-focused shop on the high street.
• Coordinate activities behind the scenes and on the shop floor; no two days are the same.
• Foster a brilliant shopping environment and oversee volunteers with induction, management, and development.
• Collaborate with the shop manager to lead the team and ensure a positive customer experience.

Location: Corsham

Salary: £25,213 per annum, pro rata

Hours: 21 per week (includes Saturday & Sunday as part of a rota)

Contract: Permanent

What will a day in the life of a Assistant Shop Managerinvolve?

• Collaborating with the shop manager to run a profitable, customer-focussed shop that is the 'window of the British Red Cross' on the high street.
• Working on the shop floor, to coordinating activity “behind the scenes”, no two days are the same.
• Fostering a brilliant shopping environment and provide an excellent customer experience in store.
• Working collaboratively with the shop manager, you’ll oversee a team of dedicated volunteers, delivering their induction, management, and development.

To be a successful Assistant Shop Manager, what will you need?

• To be retail superstar with the experience and know-how from working in a shop environment.
• The traits of apeople-person, who enjoys providing an excellent customer experience, championing a team, and meeting people from all walks of life.
• The mind of a commercially savvy individual, who has good awareness of financial targets and measures, alongside proven IT skills.
• The ability to work flexibly to the needs of the store.
