Cartrefi Cymru Co-operative in St Athan is seeking a Female Assistant Service Manager to help make everyday remarkable for the people we support. You’ll work alongside the Service Manager to ensure a safe, caring, person-centred service with hands-on leadership.

This role involves supporting daily living, personal care, medication where required, and helping people participate in social and community activities, including swimming, while guiding the team on shift.

Come and make a real difference: we’re looking for an Female Assistant Service Manager to help make everyday remarkable for our friendly team in St Athan.

We are dedicated to supporting those with learning disabilities to live a fulfilled and enriched life in the community, as a Assistant Service Manager, you can play a vital role in this.

Role: Female Assistant Service Manager

Location: St Athan

Hours: 37 Your shift pattern will include weekends, sleep-ins and waking nights

Salary: £29,149.91pa and our sleep-in shifts at £60 per night and our travel expenses is paid 55p per mile

Contract: Permanent

What you’ll be doing:

In this role, you’ll be working alongside the Service Manager to ensure a safe, caring and person-centred service for the people we support and our colleagues. You’ll be visible in the day-to-day operation of the service, providing hands-on support in line with each person’s individual needs, choices and preferences.

This is an active, hands‑on role where you’ll lead by example. You’ll support people with all aspects of their daily lives, which will include personal care, washing and dressing, medication management and full manual handling. You’ll also help people to enjoy an active and fulfilling life, supporting them to take part in social and community activities, including swimming, and encouraging choice, independence and participation in the things that matter to them.

You’ll work shifts on a rota basis, which may include sleep‑ins. In the absence of the Service Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the service. This will involve providing leadership and management to the team, monitoring performance, carrying out one‑to‑ones and appraisals, and leading team meetings.

You’ll enjoy building positive relationships with the people we support, colleagues, families and other stakeholders, while putting our vision and values into action to deliver a first‑class service. Above all else, your focus will be on helping the people we support achieve the highest possible levels of independence, while organising and modelling support in an innovative, flexible and truly person‑centred way to make everyday remarkable.

• are female (this is a genuine occupational requirement due to the nature of the role)
• experience supporting people with learning difficulties in a social care setting
• Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or actively working towards)
• a strong caring nature to support others to live an enriched life and fulfil their potential
• a working knowledge and understanding of the Care Council for Wales Code of Practice
• flexibility to work shifts and provide cover as required
• afull driving licence - essential and happy to travel for meetings and training
• access to your own car and happy to use this for transporting people we support to and from activities as well as obtaining business insurance for your vehicle for which we pay 55p per mile to cover this
