Job summary

Pembrook Resourcing LTD is seeking an Assistant Service Manager for an established automotive dealership in Gillingham. You will support the Aftersales Manager, lead the Front of House team, and help maintain excellent customer service standards while driving departmental performance.

The role offers a £35,000 basic salary with an OTE around £45,000, a company vehicle, and a Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:30pm schedule with 1 in 4 Saturdays. 30 days’ holiday and benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Experience in automotive service or aftersales advisory role.
• Understanding of dealership service department processes.
• Experience supervising a team.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Management experience and warranty knowledge advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist Aftersales Manager in day-to-day running of the service department.
• Oversee Front of House team and bookings, customer updates and vehicle handovers.
• Ensure communication of additional work identified through vehicle health checks.
• Handle customer concerns and complaints professionally.
• Support management of courtesy vehicles, quotations, invoices and work in progress.
• Collaborate with Sales and Service teams to drive customer retention and performance.

Pembrook Resourcing is currently recruiting an Assistant Service Manager for an exciting opportunity within an established automotive dealership in Gillingham.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced automotive aftersales professional looking to take the next step in their career.

Working closely with the Aftersales Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the department, taking responsibility for the Front of House team, maintaining excellent customer service standards and supporting overall departmental performance.

THE PACKAGE

• £35,000 basic salary.

THE ROLE

As Assistant Service Manager, you will support the Aftersales Manager in overseeing the daily operation of the service department.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and supervising the Front of House team.
• Supporting the day-to-day running of the service department.
• Overseeing bookings, customer updates and vehicle handovers.
• Ensuring additional work identified through vehicle health checks is communicated effectively.
• Handling customer concerns and complaints professionally.
• Supporting the management of courtesy vehicles, quotations, invoices and work in progress.
• Working closely with Sales and Service colleagues.
• Driving customer retention and departmental performance.
• Ensuring company procedures and GDPR requirements are followed.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Previous experience within an automotive service or aftersales advisory role.
• Strong understanding of dealership service department processes.
• Experience supporting or supervising a team.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Confidence handling customer complaints.
• Full UK driving licence.

Previous management experience, franchised dealership experience and warranty knowledge would be advantageous but are not essential.
