The role

As anAssistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join us at Devonport, where a major infrastructure investment programme is transforming naval support for future MOD ship and submarine operations. The Major Infrastructure Projects (MIP) Business Unit is delivering critical facilities—including docking and berthing for Astute Class submarine maintenance—and we’re recruiting talent to help drive this national mission forward.

Day-to-day, you’ll support commercial assurance through auditing, evidence tracking, and maintaining accurate registers, ensuring timely and reliable data for internal reviews and cost verification.

  • Auditing and verification of Defined Cost.
  • Collating evidence and updating Evidence Trackers.
  • Management of staff register with timely updates and assisting with Plant / Asset Registers.
  • Helping with internal audits of monthly Applications for Payment (AFP)
  • Auditing monthly expenses.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Assistant Quantity Surveyor

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data entry, analysis, and reporting
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Detail-oriented with ability to manage records and support commercial processes
  • Experience in construction and working with plant, materials, and expenses - Desirable.
  • Familiarity with NEC3 and NEC4 contracts – Desirable.

Qualifications for the Assistant Quantity Surveyor

  • Degree level qualification in related field.
