Job description

The project is a large scale (~£185M) and long term (3 year duration) student accommodation scheme, comprising of 6 new-build blocks and a refurbishment of an existing block. This is great opportunity for an AQS who is keen to work as part of a larger team and receive support from our more senior commercial staff.

Job Purpose And Scope

To support the Project & Project QS to manage all commercial aspects of their role. In particular in terms of:

  • Maximising the commercial results of the project in terms of delivering optimum profit performance against internal budgets & to maximise cash.
  • The Procurement and Financial Control of Sub-Contractors.
  • Financial Control of Sub-Contractors.
  • Preparing timely & accurate monthly financial reports to forecast net margin & activity utilising the company tools, procedures & rules.
Accountabilities And Key Tasks
  • Financial forecasting reporting & control:
  • Assist in the accurate compilation and preparation of aspects of the monthly Financial Reporting to predict the End of Site Margin including liaison with Financial Control.
  • To carry out calculations of Materials Cost Accruals & Material Cost Forecasts.
  • To carry out calculations of Forecast Preliminary Costs & Cost Accruals.
  • Forecasts associated with Sub-contractor.
  • Subcontract & consultant procurement and materials cost management
  • Client account management
  • Previous quantity surveying experience and an eagerness to develop in this area.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and produces accurate work.
  • Communicates information and ideas proactively and confidentially in a way which is received positively, both verbally and in writing. Shares knowledge with others.
