Qualifications

Assistant Quantity Surveyor

We are now on the lookout for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support our Senior Quantity Surveyors in our Northern Region. This role will initially be working in Barton on a link road scheme.

Main Duties
  • Provide general assistance to Senior Quantity Surveyors
  • Assist with preparing plans, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation
  • On‑site measurement and measurement of drawings as required
  • Assist with identifying potential risks and evaluate options for control
  • On‑going cost analysis of maintenance and repair work
  • Feasibility studies of clients requests
  • Assist with preparation of estimates
  • Assist with analysing sub‑contractors quotations
  • Assist with preparation and agreeing variation accounts
  • Prepare and issue certification for contract payments to sub‑contractors
  • Assist with providing evidence for resolution of disputes
Qualifications
  • Highly organised, commercially aware and confident when it comes to negotiation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to think laterally and solve problems rather than escalates them
  • Comfortable negotiating with a wide range of stakeholders across a live construction environment
  • Numerate and detail‑focused, able to manage the financial demands of active contracts with confidence
  • Previous experience working for a main contractor within a civil engineering environment, supporting the commercial function on live projects
  • Working knowledge of NEC forms of contract

This is a regional role, so you’ll need to be happy travelling to sites and meetings and hold a full UK driving licence.
