Job summary

Storal is hiring an Assistant Nursery Chef/Cook at Wragby Road Nursery School in Lincoln. You will support the Nursery Cook during leave periods, preparing nutritious meals in a safe, hygienic kitchen, and deputising as needed.

You should hold Level 2 Food and Hygiene qualification, with experience in a commercial kitchen, and a solid grasp of Health and Safety guidelines and COSHH. Part-time hours 9:30–3:30, £12.71 per hour, may be available with flexible arrangements.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Food and Hygiene qualification.
  • Experience in a commercial kitchen as an assistant cook/chef or similar.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and COSHH.

Responsibilities

  • Catering for children with specific dietary needs.
  • Adhere to high standards of Food Hygiene and safety guidelines.
  • Ensure rich, stimulating eating experiences for children.
  • Maintain stock levels and rotation.
  • Follow COSHH and relevant guidelines.
  • Deputise for the permanent Nursery Cook during absences.

Location: 145 Wragby Road, Lincoln LN2 4PL
Hours: Monday - Friday, Part Time, 9.30-3.30

With 28 years of experience in early years education and an NNEB qualification, I began my journey as a Nursery Nurse and have since had the privilege of working with children of all ages—from newborns upwards.

How you’ll spend your time here

As an Assistant Nursery Chef/Cook, you will provide essential support during periods of leave, absence, or when additional help is needed. Working closely with the Nursery Cook, you’ll assist in preparing nutritious, freshly made meals while maintaining the highest standards of safety and hygiene in the nursery kitchen at all times. Your flexibility and reliability will ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen during these periods.

Day to day you will find yourself;
  • Catering for children with specific dietary needs
  • Working to an extremely high level when it comes to the relevant Food and Hygiene, Chartered Institute of Environmental Health-Food Safety, Health and Safety and Ofsted guidelines and regulations
  • Ensuring that all children have rich stimulating eating experiences
  • Maintaining stock levels and ensuring stock rotation
  • Following COSHH and other relevant guidelines
  • Deputising for the permanent Nursery Cook in all absences with the expectation of deputising full time when this is required
