Job summary

Storal Clowne Nursery School is seeking a Casual Nursery Chef/Cook in Chesterfield to support the kitchen during leave periods. You will work with the Nursery Cook to prepare nutritious meals while upholding strict safety and hygiene standards in the nursery kitchen.

Day-to-day duties include catering for dietary needs, maintaining stock, following COSHH and health-and-safety rules, and deputising for the permanent cook when needed. Flexible hours suit other commitments.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Food and Hygiene qualification required.
• Experience in a commercial kitchen is desirable.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and COSHH.

Responsibilities

• Cater for children with specific dietary needs.
• Follow high safety, hygiene and Food Safety guidelines.
• Maintain stock levels and stock rotation.
• Deputise for the permanent Nursery Cook during absences.

How you’ll spend your time here

As a Casual Nursery Chef/Cook, you will provide essential support during periods of leave, absence, or when additional help is needed. Working closely with the Nursery Cook, you’ll assist in preparing nutritious, freshly made meals while maintaining the highest standards of safety and hygiene in the nursery kitchen at all times. Your flexibility and reliability will ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen during these periods.

Day to day you will find yourself;

• Catering for children with specific dietary needs
• Working to an extremelyhigh level when it comes to the relevantFood and Hygiene,Chartered Institute of Environmental Health-Food Safety, Health and Safety and Ofsted guidelines and regulations
• Ensuring thatall children have rich stimulating eating experiences
• Maintaining stock levels and ensuring stock rotation
• Following COSHH and other relevant guidelines
• Deputising for the permanent Nursery Cook in all absences with the expectation of deputising full time when this is required
