Job summary

Halfords is seeking an Assistant Manager to work with the Centre Manager, combining workshop duties with daily sales and customer service. You will split time between the workshop floor alongside technicians and guiding the customer journey to secure high satisfaction and profitability.

You should bring hands-on mechanical experience or relevant management background, with strong leadership, coaching, and health & safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanical experience or management background.
• Proven ability to lead and develop colleagues.
• Strong knowledge of workshop operations, diagnostics and vehicle maintenance.
• Maintains Health & Safety standards in a busy workshop.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• IT systems literacy and willingness to learn in-house software.
• Full, valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead workshop activities and assist Centre Manager with daily sales and customer service.
• Drive customer satisfaction and service quality across the centre.
• Coach and train colleagues in the moment to maintain performance.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in the workshop.
