Job summary

Department Bonded in Manchester is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the General Manager in running the venue’s day‑to‑day operations. You will lead staff, uphold service standards and ensure efficient site management, including health and safety compliance.

You will bring at least 1 year in a similar role, solid F&B knowledge, and strong leadership to foster a calm, high‑quality guest experience at a busy city centre location.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year in a similar hospitality role, with emphasis on quality and consistency.
• Solid understanding of food and beverage trends and services.
• Familiarity with back‑of‑house systems and financial awareness.
• Proven leadership abilities and ability to develop and mentor others.
• Commitment to health, safety and cost control in a busy venue.

Job description

Department Bonded, Our newest space on Lower Byrom Street in the heart of St John's. Rooted in specialty coffee, Department focuses on calm, considered spaces designed to work throughout the day. Coffee is central to the offer and is roasted by Allpress Espresso, with a menu that balances well-made classics alongside seasonal and speciality drinks. Pastries and food are prepared in-house, with fresh juices pressed daily.

As Assistant Manager you will be responsible for supporting the General Manager in managing the overall daily operations of the venue. Your duties will include managing and developing staff, maintaining, and elevating product and service standards to achieve outstanding customer experience. You will ensure the efficient management of premises, general housekeeping and health and safety, across all departments.

About You

We are looking for an inspiring hospitality professional who shares our vision and passion for the industry. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Assistant Manager or a Restaurant Supervisor ready for their next move into Management.

You will:

• have at least one years experience of working within a similar role and environment, where quality and consistency go hand in hand;
• have a solid understanding of food and beverage and up to date knowledge of industry trends;
• you will be confident in working with back of house systems and platforms;
• be a natural leader, with outstanding delegation skills. You will share your skills and experience and model behaviours that will inform, inspire and develop others;
• have an understanding of financial performance and cost control;
• you will be proactive with the ability to keep on top of work-flows and systems; and
• have an eye for detail in every aspect of the restaurant operation including health and safety and premises management.
