Job summary

Veolia Environmental Services (Uk) Plc in Rugby, Warwickshire is seeking a Site Operations Manager to support the Facilities Manager in daily site activities, uphold safety rules, and foster a proactive safety culture.

You will lead the operational team, ensure staff and contractors are trained and inducted, manage waste processing operations, and maintain plant performance within budget. The role offers a challenging, rewarding career with ongoing training and benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in landfill and/or waste treatment processing in an operational setting.
• Knowledge and experience in health and safety.
• Budgeting and cost-control knowledge.
• Understanding of operational plant maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Site Operations & Safety Management - Assist the Facilities Manager in managing day-to-day site activities, ensuring all staff, visitors, and contractors follow site rules and safety requirements while developing a proactive safety culture.
• Team Leadership & People Management - Act as line manager for the operational team, providing supervision, direction, and support; ensure employees and contractors are properly trained, inducted, and monitored to maintain required standards.
• Waste Processing & Plant Management - Control waste reception, acceptance, processing, and disposal operations; manage maintenance of mobile plant and processing equipment to optimize performance and meet budget requirements.
• Regulatory Compliance & Stakeholder Relations - Ensure compliance with all site authorisations and procedures; manage relationships with regulatory authorities (EA/HSE), local councils, and other stakeholders; facilitate regulatory visits and maintain accurate records.
• Operational Administration & Project Delivery - Complete daily site records and data analysis; manage contractors undertaking maintenance and works; deliver business‑specific projects; provide customer service and ensure efficient facility operation within delegated authority levels.

• Understanding of operational plant maintenance
