Job summary

Veolia Environmental Services (Uk) Plc is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to lead the Mechanical Treatment and Material Recovery Facility, overseeing operations and maintenance and guiding the MT/MRF team to maximise plant availability and production targets.

You will ensure output specifications meet customer and regulatory requirements, manage annual budgets, and drive improvements to plant efficiency, safety and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all aspects of the Mechanical Treatment and Material Recovery Facility, both operations and maintenance, while overseeing the wider MT/MRF team to keep the plant running to maintain plant availability and production targets
• Ensure all output specifications are met in line with customer and regulatory requirements and manage operations against Veolia Minimum Requirements and site Environmental Permit
• Coordinate the operations and maintenance functions to deliver on financial and technical performance targets, including preparing an annual budget that works within an approved revenue, cost and profit
• Ensure robust plans are in place to manage plant breakdowns and planned maintenance requirements, minimise plant downtime and report on plant performance including budgets, CAPEX, plant availability and project progress
• Lead and contribute to improvement projects on site, deliver plant efficiencies and cost-saving solutions, and identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement
• Record and process accidents, incidents, significant close calls and audit/inspection non-conformities, and maintain and review technical, operational and financial KPIs, We're also committed to ensuring that all applicants and colleagues receive fair treatment without discrimination on any grounds, aiming to create a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
• Previous experience leading a large manufacturing / recycling facility
• Experience of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance requirements and Waste Management experience
• Technical proficiency relating to machinery and process equipment with strong business acumen and financial management skills
• Effective communication and relationship management skills with ability to lead by example and demonstrate performance management and talent management
• Time management and informed decision making capabilities with continuous improvement and project management experience
• IT proficiency and ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams to optimise productivity and operational requirements

  Leadership and Management work experience with familiarity with Health and safety and Environmental legislation and requirements
• Previous experience leading a large manufacturing / recycling facility
