Job Overview
Full‑time 09:00‑17:00, 22:00‑06:00 or flexible day/night shift covering at the community diagnostic centre in Slough. A member of the facilities team to ensure a clean, comfortable environment for patients. Cleaning experience preferred, full training provided, excellent customer skills required.
Main Responsibilities
- Vacuum/mop, sweep, damp mop, spot clean, spray buff floor surfaces, using machinery as required.
- Vacuum carpeted areas, remove spots or stains and shampoo carpets with machinery as directed by Housekeeping supervisors.
- Collect and tag all rubbish, remove bags, clinical waste bins, sharps bins and flattened cardboard containers to designated collection points.
- Ensure waste segregation at collection point and placement into locked containers per Trust Policy.
- Replace bags on stands/containers with correct colour code, keeping containers clean.
- Damp dust lockers, over‑bed tables, chairs, beds, ledges, over‑bed lights, pipes, radiators; remove cages as instructed and clean lockers and wheels.
- Damp dust and polish desks, furniture, fittings at nurses station, offices, day room and ancillary rooms.
- Damp clean telephones.
- Clean showers, hand basins and all fittings; clean lavatories inside and outside bowl, seat, handle, cistern and surrounding area; clean sanitary bin.
- Clean and polish mirrors and glass on doors and partitions.
- Top up paper hand‑towel containers, toilet‑roll containers, hand soap, hand cream and hand gel dispensers.
- Use cleaning equipment and technology as required and trained.

Essential Criteria
- Basic education.
- Good numeracy and literacy.
- Basic cleaning skills.
- Team player, able to communicate verbally and understand instructions.
- Flexible approach to work.
- Respect for patient privacy and confidentiality.
Desirable Criteria
- NVQ level 1 in cleaning and support services building interior.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Understanding of reasons for cleaning.
