Job description
Assistant HeadteacherPermanent, full‑time role (8:30am‑5:00pm)

We are supporting a school in finding a committed, dynamic Assistant Headteacher to join their dedicated team and help drive continued school improvement. You would be joining a small core team of specialist staff who will be supporting approximately 35 students providing a nurturing, encouraging and supportive environment, providing opportunities and encouragement to reintegrate back into a mainstream setting.

As Assistant Headteacher of the school, you will play a key leadership role in shaping the vision, ethos, and daily life of the school. Working closely with the Head of School, you will support strategic planning, lead on school improvement priorities, and contribute to the continuous development of their nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Head of School in delivering a clear, ambitious vision for pupil success.
  • Lead and contribute to the school improvement plan, ensuring impactful and measurable progress.
  • Manage and support staff in completing high‑quality annual reviews.
  • Take responsibility for aspects of the school’s budget and resource planning.
  • Promote a culture of safeguarding, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Act as a role model for high expectations, positive behaviour, and professional conduct.
  • Support operational and pastoral duties as part of the school’s senior leadership team.

The school are seeking somebody who is either working towards or have the following:

  • Experienced in leading or contributing significantly to a school improvement plan.
  • Qualified with, or currently working towards, NPQH or NPQSL.
  • Experienced in managing staff teams, including delivering staff development and overseeing annual reviews.
  • Confident with budget management and operational leadership.
  • Passionate about improving outcomes for pupils who benefit from a supportive, nurturing environment.
  • Able to inspire trust, respect, and high aspirations across the school community.
