Assistant Civil Engineer - Ipswich

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 (depending on experience)

Location: Ipswich

Are you a skilled and detail-oriented professional working in the civil engineering industry, looking to take the next step in your career with a dynamic Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy? This is an exciting opportunity to join an award-winning consulting engineering firm known for its collaborative approach, technical excellence, and innovative use of technology. The team delivers a diverse range of projects from creative concept schemes to complex detailed designs across residential, commercial, and mixed‑use developments throughout East Anglia.

As a key member of the Civil Engineering team, you'll be at the heart of the design process, working closely with engineers to contribute to some of the region's most exciting and challenging projects.

The Role
  • Creating and managing detailed Civils3D models for a variety of civil engineering projects.
  • Producing comprehensive technical drawings, including general arrangements, sections, and engineering plans.
  • Working collaboratively with engineers, architects, and consultants to ensure a coordinated design.
  • Assisting in the preparation of technical reports, calculations, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Supporting the development of designs from concept through to construction.
  • Mentoring and guiding junior technicians or apprentices.
What We're Looking For
  • Working towards a recognised professional qualification.
  • Proven experience in civil engineering design, ideally within a consultancy or construction environment.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with Civils3D is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of Technical Approvals and Sectional Agreements is beneficial.
  • Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy.
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach with strong communication skills.
