Tennial Personnel are seeking an Assistant Manager / Cook for a waterfront café in Levington on a temporary to permanent basis. The role covers food prep, customer service, stock ordering and general operations with 5 days a week, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Ideal candidates will have food hygiene knowledge, good communication and organisational skills, and a services mindset. A full UK driving licence and own transport are essential due to location.

Job description

Tennial Personnel are currently recruiting for a reliable, enthusiastic and customer-focused Assistant Manager / Cook to join our client's waterfront café based in Levington on a temporary to permanent or permanent basis depending on business requirements.

The successful candidate will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the café, supporting with food and drink preparation, customer service, stock and supply ordering, and general operational duties. This is a varied, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working with customers and has a passion for food and hospitality.

The successful candidate will need to have a good understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling practices, along with excellent communication and organisational skills. Previous cooking or café/hospitality experience would be preferred, although the right attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.

Due to the waterfront location, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own transport.

Hours: 5 days out of 7, including weekends, 8:00AM - 4:00PM

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing and serving a range of food and drinks to a high standard.
• Ensuring food is prepared, handled and stored safely in accordance with food hygiene regulations.
• Greeting customers in a friendly and professional manner and providing excellent customer service.
• Taking customer orders and handling payments where required.
• Supporting the day-to-day running of the café and assisting with general operational duties.
• Ordering food, drink and other supplies to ensure the café remains adequately stocked.
• Monitoring stock levels and reporting any shortages or requirements.
• Ensuring food preparation areas, kitchen facilities and customer areas are kept clean, tidy and hygienic.
• Following all company food safety, health and safety and hygiene procedures.
• Supporting with opening and closing duties as required.
• Assisting with the supervision and smooth running of the café in the absence of senior management.
• Dealing with customer queries and resolving any issues in a professional and helpful manner.
• Supporting other members of the café team during busy periods.
• Ensuring a consistently high standard of food, service and cleanliness is maintained.

Skills Required

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly and approachable manner.
• Previous cooking, café, hospitality or food service experience would be preferred.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling practices.
