Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Chef to support a busy café during peak tourist season in Thetford. You will prepare and serve café-style comfort food, maintain high hygiene standards, and run the kitchen smoothly during service.

The role requires previous café/restaurant experience, the ability to work efficiently in high-volume periods, and the capacity to manage multiple orders while working both independently and with a team.

• Previous experience as a Chef in a busy café, restaurant, or similar hospitality environment.
• Proven ability to work efficiently during high-volume service periods.
• Experience preparing fresh café-style meals and comfort food.
• Ability to manage multiple orders and prioritise tasks effectively.
• Experience working independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook café-style comfort food to a high standard.
• Complete daily food preparation and mise en place for service.
• Manage kitchen tickets/orders efficiently during busy service periods.
• Ensure food is prepared and presented consistently and within service times.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment.
• Carry out opening and closing kitchen procedures.
• Monitor food quality and stock levels, reporting shortages when required.
• Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
• Support the wider café team to ensure excellent customer service.
• Assist with cleaning duties and equipment maintenance as required.

Additional Information

• 3 months contract with a local authority
• Working hours: 37.50 hours per week
• 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• 5 Days per Week, includes weekends and bank holidays
• We work on a bi-weekly payment schedule.
