Job summary

Amey is seeking an Assistant Surveyor to support experienced professionals in delivering surveying solutions across a range of UK projects. You will help prepare surveys, reports, specifications and project documentation while contributing to quality, cost and programme objectives.

You will work within multidisciplinary teams, assisting with building and measured surveys, defect diagnosis and remedial work specifications, under appropriate supervision and mentoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Working towards or aiming for professional membership (RICS/CIOB or equivalent).
• Understanding of surveying theory and principles and applying them in practice.
• Knowledge of surveying processes and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering surveying commissions, ensuring standards and client requirements are met.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications and project documentation.
• Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to deliver quality outcomes.
• Assist with building, condition and measured surveys and asset inspections.
• Support defect diagnosis and preparation of remedial work specifications.
• Develop understanding of technical and specification processes under supervision.
• Identify and manage project hazards and risks.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and CDM regulations.
• Contribute to project delivery within budgets and timelines.
• Build relationships with colleagues, clients, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Undertake site visits and surveys, including temporary site assignments.
• Support continuous improvement through established processes.
• Carry out general office duties for the consultancy business.
