Job summary

Amey is seeking an Assistant Building Surveyor to join the Advisory team in a permanent role. You will assist with surveys, reports, specifications, and project documentation, working under experienced professionals to ensure quality, cost and programme objectives.

You will contribute to building surveys, condition surveys, measured surveys and asset inspections while developing understanding of technical processes and risk management in a nuclear/regulated context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Building Surveying or related discipline.
• Working towards or committed to achieving professional membership (RICS, CIOB or equivalent).
• Understanding of surveying theory and principles and ability to apply them in practice.
• Knowledge of technical and specification processes within a surveying environment.
• Good competence with relevant software packages and analytical tools.
• Understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and risk assessment principles.
• Understanding of Building Regulations and other relevant legislation.
• Awareness of commercial considerations in project delivery.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of suppliers and services in property/construction sectors.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage priorities.
• Commitment to professional development and Chartered status.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering surveying commissions, ensuring technical standards.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, drawings, schedules and docs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for high-quality outcomes.
• Assist with building, condition and measured surveys and asset inspections.
• Support defect diagnosis and remedial work specifications.
• Develop understanding of technical processes and own deliverables under supervision.
• Identify and manage project hazards and risks.
• Support CDM health and safety compliance.
• Contribute to project delivery within budgets and timelines.
• Build positive relationships with colleagues, clients and suppliers.
• Undertake site visits and surveys, including temporary assignments.
• Follow established processes and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Carry out general office duties for a consulting business.
