Job summary

Your Recruitment Partner Ltd. in South Manchester is seeking a finance assistant on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity. The role will be hands-on and split 50/50 between accounts payable and month-end support.

Key duties include processing supplier invoices and credits, maintaining the purchase ledger, reconciling statements, assisting with month-end journals and management accounts, payroll inputs, and preparing schedules for review.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting month end accounting is a bonus.
• Confident Excel skills and experience using a finance/ERP system.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritise and meet deadlines, and a professional approach to confidential information.
• Comfortable switching between high-volume transactional work and more analytical accounting tasks.

Responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices and credit notes accurately and promptly, including coding, matching to purchase orders and checking authorisation.
• Maintain the purchase ledger, supplier accounts and relevant records, ensuring transactions are correctly recorded.
• Reconcile supplier statements, investigate discrepancies and resolve outstanding items with suppliers and internal colleagues.
• Prepare supplier payment runs and supporting schedules for review and approval in accordance with company controls.
• Respond to supplier and internal purchase ledger queries, including missing invoices, pricing differences and payment enquiries.
• Monitor aged creditors and assist with purchase ledger month-end cut-off, accrual information and control account reconciliations.
• Assist with the monthly management accounts preparation and delivery of accurate reporting to agreed deadlines.
