Job summary

Express Recruitment is partnering with a Nottingham-based organisation to recruit an experienced Assistant Accountant for their busy accounts team. You will handle double-entry processing, ledger maintenance, and bank controls while driving system optimisation projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar accounts role.
• Comprehensive grasp of core accounting principles, double-entry processing, and balance sheet controls.
• AAT qualification, or qualified by experience.
• Strong capability in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with modern ERP tools (exposure to Microsoft Dynamics / Business Central is a distinct advantage).

Responsibilities

• Maintain balance sheet routines relating to stock management, staff expenses, and corporate card accounts.
• Oversee ledger health, coordinating with purchase colleagues to perform supplier reconciliations and complete intercompany entries.
• Process cashbook ledger transactions and perform complex multi-entity bank reconciliations.
• Support month-end close by preparing balance sheet reconciliations and core management summaries.
