Job summary

Clarify Consultancy Ltd is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join the finance team in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with the Head of Finance on month-end processes and daily finance operations, ensuring accurate records and timely reporting.

The role offers practical variety, mentorship and opportunities for long-term career progression, with flexible working arrangements and ongoing training. Proficiency in Sage/Excel and progress toward AAT are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar finance role and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent time-management skills.
• Confidence with Sage and/or Excel is beneficial.
• Studying towards AAT or recently obtaining the qualification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly accounts packs.
• Update monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Handle accruals, prepayments and journals.
• Process bank payments and receipts.
• Regularly reconcile all bank accounts.
• Manage cash needs including foreign currency requirements.
• Prepare summarised overhead detail for budgets/forecasts.
• Assist in regular and ad hoc financial and administrative reports.
• Download and reconcile electronic timesheets; keep finance filing up to date.

Our client, a well‑established and respected organisation, is entering an exciting phase of expansion and is now seeking a diligent, hardworking and proactive Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. Working directly with the Head of Finance, you will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month‑end processes and ensuring the smooth running of daily finance operations.

• Assist in preparation of monthly accounts pack
• Update monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Accruals, prepayments & Journals
• Process bank payments & receipts
• Regular reconciliation of all bank accounts
• Control & process the cash needs within the business including foreign currency requirements
• Complete and issue summarised overhead detail ready for budgets / forecasts
• Assist in preparation of a variety of regular & ad hoc financial & administrative reports
• Monthly downloading of electronic timesheets and reconciliation of data
• Ensure the finance filing is kept up to date in a timely manner

You will bring experience from a similar finance role, along with excellent time‑management skills, strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service. Confidence with Sage and/or Excel is highly beneficial. Studying towards AAT or recently completing your qualification would be a strong advantage.
