Job summary

The Copthorne Hotel Cardiff-Caerdydd is hiring a Commis Chef to join our busy kitchen. You will support the team with basic cookery and help ensure dishes meet our high standards under pressure.

The role is 40 hours per week with shifts including nights, weekends and holidays. Previous experience in a 4-star hotel is desirable, although full training is provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in a 4* hotel is desirable, although full training is provided.
• Good communications skills with a positive and energetic nature.
• It’s a physical role and you’ll be on your feet most of the day, so fitness is important.
• Flexible attitude to shifts – you may need to work nights, weekends and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Having a passion for food and being capable of professional communication with other departments at all times
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge in all government Health and Food Safety legislation including HACCP, ensuring all necessary checks are completed throughout the kitchen (both quality and safety checks)
• Ensuring our dishes are always at their best & to the standards as agreed with the team but in line with brand expectations, preparing “Dish Recipe Cards” and ensuring all Allergen information is readily available
• Making sure food items are secure and stored safely - keeping stocks replenished to minimise waste and ensuring that all kitchen equipment and environment are hygienic and working properly
