Job summary

Midlothian Council is seeking a Learning Assistant ASN at Burnbrae Primary School to support pupils with complex needs in the Wee Brae provision. The role emphasises enabling effective communication and sensitive support within a primary setting.

Experience in similar roles and literacy/numeracy qualifications are required; PVG registration is needed, with SSSC membership for nursery environments within 6–12 months. The post is permanent and part-time (27.5 hours, 39 weeks).

Qualifications

• Evidence of basic literacy and numeracy at Standard Grade General level or SVQ2 in Early Years Care and Education, or National Certificate in Childcare & Education, or equivalent competency.
• Familiar with child development and able to respond to the needs of individual pupils.
• May be required to undertake additional training courses (e.g., first aid, calm techniques).
