Job summary

North Lanarkshire Council Ltd is seeking a Learning Assistant (Universal) to support children in their school environment. The role includes caring for children, assisting with hygiene, and helping with classroom tasks.

PVG Scheme membership is required before starting. It is a temporary position until 25 June 2027, with interviews on 9 October 2026 and a Monday–Friday, 5 hours per day work pattern.

Qualifications

• Recent experience working with children in a school setting or voluntary capacity is essential.
• Willingness to undertake NHS or Education training as required.
• Experience with children/young people with additional needs is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Care for children and assist with personal hygiene.
• Maintain stocks of hygiene sundries.
• Assist with daily reception and departure of children; escort duties as needed.
• Prepare classwork and materials; set up teaching aids and reprographics work.
