Job summary

Moray Council is seeking an assistant to support learning and teaching in a school setting. The role focuses on helping children with additional support needs and promoting independence, while ensuring personal care and medical needs are met in a safe, hygienic environment.

The post is regulated under PVG requirements and is temporary until 25 March 2027, based at Speyside High School. 20 hours per week during term time with a pro-active, patient approach and ability to work as part of a team

Qualifications

Experience of working with children and young people in a caring environment.
Educated to ‘standard’ level or equivalent with understanding of English and Arithmetic.
Ability to observe confidentiality and use sound judgement.
Ability to use initiative and communicate at all levels.
Ability to work under guidance of teaching staff.
Ability to assist pupils with special educational needs in personal/medical care.
Patient and non-confrontational approach with challenging behaviour.
Empathy, tolerance and commitment to ongoing training.

Responsibilities

Support Learning and Teaching Activities.
Provide support to children and young people with additional support needs.
Attend to personal care and health including medical needs and maintain a safe, hygienic environment.
Support pupils with mobility needs.
