Job summary

The University of Southampton is looking for an proactive, customer‑focused individual to join the Ask HR team as an Ask HR Officer on a part‑time basis (0.8 FTE). The role is based mainly at Highfield Campus with some flexibility to work from home.

You will answer HR inquiries via phone, email and in person, using central HR systems. The role runs 9am–5pm with a rota, bringing a starting salary of £27,319.00 pro rata and benefits such as a pension scheme and university facilities.

Responsibilities

• First line of contact for internal and external HR customers.
• Provide telephone, email and in-person support using IT systems.
• Hours: 9am–5pm, part-time 0.8FTE (28.8 hours/week); days to be discussed during interviews.
• Starting salary £27,319.00 pro rata on the University Level 1-6 pay scale; staff increment applies yearly.
• Work location: Highfield Campus with cross-site HR coverage (One Guildhall Square).
• There is a rota for in-person service; flexible home‑working available when not in the office.
