Job summary

National Instruments is seeking a Classroom Assistant – Additional Special Educational Needs at a part-time post to support a pupil on a 1-to-1 basis in a SLD class setting. The role reports to the School Principal via the class teacher and involves assisting with education and care within and outside the classroom.

The post requires a Level 2 qualification or 12 months’ experience in a learning environment, and offers flexible working arrangements during school holidays and a 25-hour week.

Qualifications

• Essential: Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area.
• Ability to work flexibly and creatively to help ensure a child-centred learning experience.
• Demonstrated effective planning, organisation and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with educational support and care for pupils with SEN in and outside the classroom.
• Support access to curriculum and assist with programmes like Education Plan/Care Plan.
• Contribute to inclusion of pupils in mainstream classroom under teacher direction.
• Provide supervision and assistance including management of medical/dietary needs and safety.
