Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. As such using data to aid understanding of our workforce is vital.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job Description

In this role you will provide operational support to the Army Employment Tribunal Team based in Glasgow. Working in a small dedicated team you will be assisting in the defence of Employment Tribunal cases brought against the Army.

Key Responsibilities Of An Administration Officer:

  • To act as the initial point of contact for witnesses and MOD solicitors involved in defending Employment Tribunal claims brought against the Army.
  • Identify and provide personnel, medical and financial data and other associated information to support MOD solicitors defending Employment Tribunal claims brought by serving and former Army personnel.
  • To produce, oversee and input into branch statistics, including financial data.
  • Liaise with witnesses, military units and others across the MOD to ensure all relevant documents, statements and other information are provided to the MOD solicitors.
  • Coordinate the administration and management of witnesses, making sure they are available to attend court hearings and are briefed on the process, as well as providing them with updates and reassurance.
  • On conclusion of a case, you will be part of the lessons learnt process.
  • Demonstrate behaviours in accordance with MOD Values & Standards, including, but not limited to Army Values & Standards, The Deal and Civil Service Codes of Conduct.

Kentigern House is conveniently located to the vibrant heart of Glasgow. There is on-site parking, but this is provided on a rota-basis, so if parking is unavailable then you would need to use public parking areas. There is a fully equipped gymnasium which you can join for a small fee. There is also both a restaurant and Café on site.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
