Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Area Sales Manager to drive growth across their Northern region within the construction and infrastructure sectors (water, power & gas).
Key Responsibilities
- Sales & Business Development: Manage and grow sales within the defined geographic region (Chester to York and south to Sheffield). Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities with contractors, water companies, and project partners. Promote the company's full product offering to new and existing clients, ensuring alignment with project requirements and specifications.
- Account & Relationship Management: Maintain strong, long-term relationships with Tier 1 contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and water companies. Act as the primary point of contact for all regional customers, delivering high levels of service and technical support. Conduct regular site visits, customer meetings, and project reviews to ensure satisfaction and identify upsell or cross-sell opportunities.
- Project & Bid Involvement: Lead the sales element of bids and tenders, working closely with internal teams (technical, commercial, and operations) to prepare accurate proposals. Monitor progress and pipelines for infrastructure programmes. Interpret project documentation, specifications, and drawings to ensure correct product selection and design alignment.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in a field-based sales role within construction, water infrastructure, or related industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of project-based sales, ideally involving long-cycle projects, frameworks, or capital delivery programmes.
- Experience managing relationships with Tier 1 contractors, subcontractors, or utility providers.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a large region independently.
- Full UK driving licence.
