Job summary

Thorn Baker Group is seeking an experienced Area Cleaning Manager to oversee a portfolio of 20 sites across the South West, from Bristol through Devon to Cornwall. You will own day-to-day performance, ensuring client expectations and standards are met, while leading cleaning teams across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Experience managing multiple cleaning contracts across a portfolio of sites.
• Experience in commercial, retail, facilities management or similar environments.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Excellent client relationship management experience.
• Proactive, organised approach and ability to manage a varied portfolio.
• Good understanding of KPIs, SLAs and operational performance.
• Strong Health & Safety knowledge; IOSH or similar would be desirable.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Flexibility to travel across Bristol, Devon and Cornwall.

We are currently recruiting for an Area Cleaning Manager to oversee a portfolio of 20 sites stretching from Bristol down through the South West to Cornwall, covering a mix of retail and commercial environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cleaning or facilities management professional who enjoys a varied role, building strong client relationships and leading teams across multiple locations.

Despite the size of the portfolio, you'll have the support, structure and resources needed to deliver consistently high standards across your region.

Your Role

As Area Cleaning Manager, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day performance of your portfolio, ensuring sites consistently meet client expectations and operational standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the performance of 20 cleaning contracts

• Building and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships

• Leading, motivating and developing cleaning teams and supervisors

• Carrying out regular site visits, audits and quality inspections

• Ensuring SLAs and KPIs are consistently achieved

• Managing recruitment, training, labour budgets and operational performance

• Monitoring standards across both retail and commercial locations

• Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety and company procedures

• Identifying opportunities to improve service delivery and client satisfaction

• Supporting contract mobilisation and ongoing service improvements

About You

We're looking for an experienced Area Cleaning Manager, Regional Cleaning Manager, Contract Manager or similar who is comfortable managing multiple sites and leading teams across a geographical area.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous experience managing multiple cleaning contracts

• Experience within commercial, retail, facilities management or similar environments

• Strong leadership and people-management skills

• Excellent client relationship management experience

• A proactive, organised approach and the ability to manage a varied portfolio

• Good understanding of KPIs, SLAs and operational performance

• Strong Health & Safety knowledge; IOSH or similar would be desirable

• Full UK driving licence

• The flexibility to travel across Bristol, Devon and Cornwall
