Job summary

TKAT (The Kemnal Academies Trust) is recruiting an Apprentice IT Technician to support our Essex region schools. Based at Debden Park High School, you will work with the regional IT manager to help maintain networks, assist users and support the Trust’s Google environment across sites.

This fixed-term apprenticeship lasts 17–19 months and requires a full UK driving licence with access to a car. The role involves monitoring the service desk, liaising with external contractors, and developing

Qualifications

• Experience in administering networks, reviewing system logs, backup/AV checks and general updates.
• High professional and personal standards in work and conduct.
• Able to make sound judgments and decisions.
• Strong personal drive and willingness to get things done.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work both in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monitoring the service desk for IT issues, by reviewing incoming tickets and monitoring progress.
• Follow policies for compliance with organisation obligations (legislation, regulatory, contractual and standards).
• Help feedback to the IT Manager and wider team in IT strategy areas.
• Escalate to the Head of IT any data/cyber security breaches encountered.
• Collaborate with central IT team for development and support of the Trust's Google environment and other IT systems.
• Monitor service desk for IT issues, by reviewing tickets and monitoring progress.
• Assist the IT Manager in project-managing changes within sites and liaise with external contractors.
• Identify patterns in requests and/or service requirements needing training or system changes.
