Job summary

Medacs Healthcare is recruiting a Locum Anaesthetic Practitioner to join the team at Southmead Hospital. You will support a multi-skilled anaesthetic team, assisting in the preparation and delivery of anaesthetic care across several surgical specialties.

The role requires HCPC/NMC registration and UK operating theatre experience, with flexibility on shifts and full agency support from Medacs. Right to work in the UK is essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold HCPC or NMC registration to practice in the UK.
• Minimum of 6 months UK operating theatre experience.
• Immediate Life Support (ILS) certification preferred.
• Right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship not available for this role.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and delivery of anaesthetic procedures for surgical patients.
• Support the anaesthetic team with equipment, drugs, and airway management.
• Monitor patients throughout the anaesthetic process and respond to changes quickly.
• Work across multiple specialties including Head & Neck, Obstetrics, General Surgery, Urology, and Vascular.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll be part of a multi-skilled anaesthetic team delivering safe, high-quality care across a range of surgical specialties, including:

• Head & Neck
• Obstetrics & Gynaecology
• General Surgery
• Urology
• Vascular

You'll will be:

• responsible for assisting in the preparation and delivery of anaesthetic procedures for patients undergoing surgery
• supporting the team to prepare a wide range of specialist equipment and drugs, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous equipment and devices that safely secure the patient's airway during anesthesia
• responsible for monitoring patients throughout the anaesthetic process
• responding quickly to any changes or complications that may arise

What You’ll Need

• HCPC or NMC Registration (RGN/ODP)
• Minimum of 6 months UK based Operating Theatre experience
• Right to work in the UK (No visa sponsorship is available for this role)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Immediate Life Support (ILS) / Paediatric ILS
• Mentoring or teaching qualification
