Job summary

Medacs Healthcare is recruiting locum Anaesthetic Practitioners to support Southend University Hospital. Flexible shifts include Monday to Friday 08:00-18:00, with opportunities for full-time agency work.

As a qualified Anaesthetic Practitioner or ODP with UK anaesthetic experience, you will join a multi-skilled team delivering safe perioperative care across multiple specialties, including Head & Neck, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, General Surgery, Urology and Vascular.

Qualifications

• HCPC or NMC Registration is required.
• Minimum of 6 months UK operating theatre experience.
• Right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• ILS certification is required.
• Mentoring or teaching qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and delivery of anaesthetic procedures for surgical patients.
• Support preparation of equipment and drugs, including anaesthetic machines and airway devices.
• Monitor patients throughout the anaesthetic process.
• Respond quickly to changes or complications during anaesthesia.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be part of a multi-skilled anaesthetic team delivering safe, high-quality care across a range of surgical specialties, including:

• Head & Neck
• Obstetrics & Gynaecology
• General Surgery
• Urology
• Vascular

You'll will be:

• responsible for assisting in the preparation and delivery of anaesthetic procedures for patients undergoing surgery
• supporting the team to prepare a wide range of specialist equipment and drugs, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous equipment and devices that safely secure the patient's airway during anesthesia
• responsible for monitoring patients throughout the anaesthetic process
• responding quickly to any changes or complications that may arise

What You'll Need

• HCPC or NMC Registration (RGN/ODP)
• Minimum of 6 months UK based Operating Theatre experience
• Right to work in the UK (No visa sponsorship is available for this role)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Immediate Life Support (ILS) / Paediatric ILS
• Mentoring or teaching qualification
