Job summary

Medacs Healthcare is seeking a Locum Anaesthetic Nurse to join Weston General Hospital, offering flexible agency shifts and hours across theatres in Weston.

Candidates must hold HCPC or NMC registration, have UK theatre experience, and be able to work in the UK. The role covers preparation and delivery of anaesthetic care across multiple specialties, with strong emphasis on airway management and patient monitoring.

Qualifications

• HCPC or NMC registration required.
• Minimum 6 months UK Operating Theatre experience.
• Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• ILS or Paediatric ILS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and delivery of anaesthetic procedures.
• Support the team to prepare equipment and drugs, including airway devices.
• Monitor patients throughout the anaesthetic process.
• Respond quickly to changes or complications during anaesthesia.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be part of a multi-skilled anaesthetic team delivering safe, high-quality care across a range of surgical specialties, including:

• Head & Neck
• Obstetrics & Gynaecology
• General Surgery
• Urology
• Vascular

You’ll will be:

• responsible for assisting in the preparation and delivery of anaesthetic procedures for patients undergoing surgery
• supporting the team to prepare a wide range of specialist equipment and drugs, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous equipment and devices that safely secure the patient’s airway during anesthesia
• responsible for monitoring patients throughout the anaesthetic process
• responding quickly to any changes or complications that may arise

What You’ll Need

• HCPC or NMC Registration (RGN/ODP)
• Minimum of 6 months UK based Operating Theatre experience
• Right to work in the UK (No visa sponsorship is available for this role)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Immediate Life Support (ILS) / Paediatric ILS
• Mentoring or teaching qualification
