Job summary

Medacs Healthcare is recruiting a Locum Anaesthetic Nurse to join Southmead Hospital in Bristol. You will work within a multi-skilled anaesthetic team across several surgical specialties, delivering safe patient care in the theatre environment.

The role requires UK anaesthetic experience, HCPC or NMC registration, and a minimum of 6 months operating theatre experience. Flexible weekday and full-time shifts are available through our agency model.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Minimum 6 months UK operating theatre experience.
• Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship).
• ILS/Paediatric ILS qualifications desirable.
• Mentoring or teaching qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and delivery of anaesthetic procedures.
• Support preparation of equipment and drugs for anaesthesia and airway management.
• Monitor patients throughout the anaesthetic process.
• Respond promptly to changes or complications during procedures.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll be part of a multi-skilled anaesthetic team delivering safe, high-quality care across a range of surgical specialties, including:

• Head & Neck
• Obstetrics & Gynaecology
• General Surgery
• Urology
• Vascular

You'll will be:

• responsible for assisting in the preparation and delivery of anaesthetic procedures for patients undergoing surgery
• supporting the team to prepare a wide range of specialist equipment and drugs, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous equipment and devices that safely secure the patient's airway during anesthesia
• responsible for monitoring patients throughout the anaesthetic process
• responding quickly to any changes or complications that may arise

What You'll Need

• HCPC or NMC Registration (RGN/ODP)
• Minimum of 6 months UK based Operating Theatre experience
• Right to work in the UK (No visa sponsorship is available for this role)

• Immediate Life Support (ILS) / Paediatric ILS
• Mentoring or teaching qualification
