Job summary

Equal Teaching is seeking a dedicated ALN Teaching Assistant to support learners with additional learning needs within a Further Education setting. This role offers flexible work patterns and a chance to help learners build confidence, independence and essential study skills.

You will provide 1:1 and small group support, assist with adapting learning materials, monitor progress, and support in practical sessions and enrichment activities.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people or adults with additional learning needs in education, care, or similar setting.
• Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health and Social Care, or similar (desirable but not essential).
• Genuine passion for helping learners overcome barriers and achieve their potential.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to learners with a range of additional learning needs.
• Support lecturers and tutors in adapting learning materials and delivery methods to meet individual needs.
• Help learners develop independence, confidence, and essential life and study skills.
• Monitor and record learner progress, liaising with teaching staff and support teams.
• Assist with personal care where required, in line with individual care plans.
• Support learners during practical sessions, work placements, and enrichment activities.
