Job summary

Teach Now is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for an all-through SEND school in Enfield. The role supports primary and secondary pupils with ASD, PMLD, SEMH and trauma-related needs, delivering 1:1 and group assistance within a supportive, relationship-focused setting.

This full-time, long-term temporary placement starts January 2027, with hours 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday during term time. A specialist SEND background and UK work rights are essential; DBS checks and safeguarding commitment

Qualifications

• School-based SEND experience is essential.
• Confidence adapting support across age groups and following individual learning and care plans.
• A calm, consistent approach to distress and communication differences; specialist training desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom, 1:1 and small-group support across learning and independence activities.
• Adapt resources and use agreed communication systems for autistic pupils and those with PMLD.
• Use trauma-informed approaches and de-escalation strategies to support SEMH needs.
• Provide personal care and mobility support as required, within care plans and training.
• Support transitions and social interaction; share progress and concerns with teaching and pastoral teams.
