Job summary

David Charles Associates Limited is assisting a global Freight Forwarder in the London Heathrow area to recruit an Air Imports Clerk responsible for temperature sensitive biological and pharmaceutical shipments within an established Customer Operations team.

The successful candidate will prepare quotes, handle customer communications, complete bookings, manage customs documentation, and coordinate with UK and overseas partners.

Qualifications

• Relevant industry experience in air imports preferred.
• Experience handling temperature-sensitive shipments is a plus.
• Willingness to work overtime and adapt to shifting schedules.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present quotes for air & road consignments.
• Provide customer service excellence for verbal and written communications.
• Complete bookings and sales according to customer & company timescales.
• Ensure data & security integrity of customer information.
• Prepare and coordinate all freight documentation including airway bills, health certificates, licenses and customs entries.
• Coordinate with UK and overseas service partners and offices.
• Use company vehicles to deliver and collect paperwork or shipments when required.
• Undertake training courses to understand and complete tasks.
• Coordinate group project tasks as directed.

Job description

Our client is a global Freight Forwarder based in the London Heathrow area. Due to the ongoing success and demands of their business, they are looking for a new Air Imports Clerk to focus on their temperature sensitive biological & pharmaceutical shipments, joining an existing team of Customer Ops Agents.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with relevant industry experience and background who is happy to work in a robust and progressive company.

Main Responsibilities:

• To prepare and present quotes for Air & Road consignments
• To provide Customer Service Excellence for both verbal and written communications
• Complete assigned tasks within agreed timeframes
• Complete bookings and sales according to both customer & company timescales
• To ensure data & security integrity of both customer & company information is always controlled
• Co-ordinate with other company offices & groups
• Co-ordinate transport with both UK & Overseas approved strategic service partners
• To provide guidance on appropriate paperwork for customs clearance
• Prepare & co-ordinate all forms of freight documentation including airwaybills, Shipping Certificates, Health Certificates, Import & Export Licenses, Customs Entry Documentation, and any other supporting shipping documentation
• Prepare & complete Customs Control submissions for Imports & Exports
• To work with all types of cargo and all necessary associated tasks
• To use company vehicles on occasion to deliver and collect paperwork and or shipments
• To undertake any training courses required to understand and complete job tasks
• To co-ordinate Group project tasks as and when directed

The role will require you to work Monday to Friday 8am - 4.30pm and 9.30am - 6pm on alternate weeks (any additional work is paid overtime). You will need to be a car driver and able to work to deadlines whilst always ensuring an exemplary level of customer service.
