Job summary

Prime Placers Recruitment is recruiting for a Senior Air Import Clerk at Heathrow for a well-established international freight forwarding company. You will take ownership of the air import function during shifts, working independently as needed.

Responsibilities include end-to-end air imports, liaising with airlines and customers, completing documentation and HMRC compliance, with a 4-on/4-off day shift and a pension after probation. Join a supportive team and progress in a busy operation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within Air Import Freight Forwarding is essential.
• Ability to manage the full air import process with minimal supervision.
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Confident working independently and prioritising workloads.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Experience using CargoWise and/or Sequoia would be a significant advantage.
• Knowledge of customs procedures and import documentation is highly desirable.

• Liaise with airlines, handling agents, overseas offices, customers and transport providers.
• Complete import documentation accurately and efficiently.
• Arrange customs clearance and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.
• Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve any issues.
• Provide excellent customer service and regular shipment updates.
• Ensure all files are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
• Work independently whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy and efficiency.

Senior Air Import Clerk

Location: Heathrow, Middlesex

Salary: £40,000-£42,000 per annum (Depending on Experience) + Bonus

Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off | Days | 07:00 - 19:00 (12-hour shifts with a 1-hour lunch break)

About the Role

Prime Placers Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a well-established international freight forwarding company for an experienced Senior Air Import Clerk to join their busy Heathrow operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident air freight professional who can work independently and take ownership of the air import function during their shift. As the senior import clerk, there will be occasions, particularly at weekends, where you will be the only Air Imports specialist on site, so the ability to manage your own workload and make decisions confidently is essential.
