Job summary

ALS Recruiting Ltd is recruiting an Import Clerk in Greater London to join a progressive freight forwarder. The role offers a basic salary of 35k-40k, with a bonus paid twice yearly, and a 37.5 hour week (Mon-Fri 09:00-17:30).

Other benefits include paid overtime and a personalised training and development programme. Key duties include arranging import shipments from worldwide origins, coordinating collections with transport partners, liaising with clients and internal teams, and processing

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in a similar function in the freight forwarding industry.

Responsibilities

• Arranging import shipments from worldwide origins.
• Arranging collections with selected transport companies.
• Liaising with clients and other branches, sales departments, hauliers, etc.
• Providing excellent customer service to import customers.
• Handling order traces, checking documentation, commercial invoices, processing pre-alerts from overseas offices.
• Completion of import customs entries
• Experience at communicating with shipping lines, airlines and transport companies.

Candidate Specification

• Minimum 1 year experience in a similar function in the freight forwarding industry.
• Team player together with ability to work on own initiative.
• Tactfully handle customer queries / excellent telephone manner.
• Stay calm and focused under pressure.
• Any experience with Air Freight, Sea / Ocean Freight or Road Freight
