Job summary

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organised Air Import Clerk to join their growing operations team at Heathrow. Salary is quoted £32-35 with potential for part-time flexible working hours, and the role may suit either full-time or part-time candidates.

The successful candidate will manage airfreight import shipments end-to-end, liaise with airlines and customers, arrange customs clearance, and ensure accurate documentation and invoicing. Training may be provided where required.

Qualifications

• Experience with ASM Sequoia for completing customs declarations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel.
• Previous experience in air freight imports.
• Experience completing UK customs declarations.
• Good understanding of airfreight import procedures and documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Managing airfreight import shipments from origin through to final delivery.
• Liaising with airlines, handling agents, overseas agents and customers.
• Arranging customs clearance for import shipments.
• Completing and submitting customs declarations using ASM Sequoia.
• Ensuring all import documentation is checked and processed accurately.
• Using the Cargo Forwarder freight forwarding system to manage and maintain shipment files.
• Liaising with customers regarding shipment status, customs requirements and delivery arrangements.
• Arranging collections and final deliveries with transport providers.
• Checking supplier invoices and raising customer invoices where required.
• Ensuring all files are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
• Maintaining excellent communication with customers, overseas agents and internal departments.
• Resolving operational issues and providing proactive solutions.
• Ensuring compliance with UK customs regulations and company procedures.
