Job summary

Transcomm Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for an Air & Road Freight - Import or Export clerk with customs clearance experience for night shifts in Southall. The role covers monitoring and processing air and road shipments, ensuring accurate documentation, and providing customs clearances.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Sequoia/CargoWise and cross-trade knowledge. UK regulations familiarity is desirable. Salary £35k–£40k, 4-on-4-off, 7pm–7am.

Qualifications

• Experience in logistics, transport coordination, or supply chain operations.
• Experience managing purchase orders and supplier communication.
• Familiarity with UK road transport regulations and customs (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage air & road freight transport for inbound and outbound shipments.
• Liaise with haulage companies and freight forwarders to negotiate rates and delivery schedules.
• Monitor shipments and proactively resolve delivery delays or transport issues.
• Ensure all transport documentation is accurate and compliant (CMRs, delivery notes, consignment notes, import/export documents).
• Track transport costs and support cost control initiatives.
• Provide transport partners with precise collection and delivery instructions.
• Monitor incoming emails to identify, flag, and escalate potential operational issues.
• Monitor and report on KPI performance to ensure operational targets are met.
• Provide Customs clearances for air and road.
• Be willing to participate in an on call weekend rota to support operational continuity.
• Carry out general ad hoc duties to support the wider Operations team.

A major UK & International freight forwarding company are looking for add an Air & Road Freight Import or Export clerk, with customs clearance experience to their rapidly expanding team. Road freight and Air freight experience is ideal for this role. The role is to check all road and air documentation and to MONITOR the process. You will then provide customs clearance for both road and air freight. Sequoia and Cargowise are used so ideally experience of both. Can be either import or export, Customs clearance experience essential, cross trade experience also nice to have.

Candidates that are knowledgeable on EMAT regions would really be a bonus, but not essential - Europe, Middle East, Africa and Turkey

LOCATION: Southall

BASIC SALARY: £35k to £40k.

HOURS: 4 on and 4 off, 7pm to 7am

ROLE:

Coordination & Communication

• Act as a key point of contact between suppliers, transport providers, warehouses, and internal teams
• Provide regular shipment and order status updates to stakeholders
• Escalate risks to service levels or supply continuity when necessary
• Ensure compliance with company policies, transport regulations, and health & safety standards
• Maintain accurate records and documentation and upload and file in the platform.
• Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency and purchasing processes

Skills and Competencies

• Strong understanding of air & road freight operations and logistics processes including customs clearance. Cargowise and Sequoia would be beneficial.
• Experience with purchase order systems and ERP software
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Knowledge & Experience

• Previous experience in logistics, transport coordination, or supply chain operations
• Experience managing purchase orders and supplier communication
• Familiarity with UK and EMAT road transport regulations and customs(desirable)
• Worked with Cargo Wise and Lima (desirable)
