Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a software engineer to build cost observability and usage-tracking tooling for AI workloads. You will own features end-to-end from scoping to production rollout and write production-quality code with automated tests.

You will design internal tooling and guardrails for safe agentic coding workflows, evaluate AI tools, and contribute to best practices for AI usage across the business. Collaboration and communication are essential as you review code and mentor teammates.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Able to navigate unfamiliar codebases independently.
• Track record of shipping mid-sized features end-to-end.
• Experience building distributed data systems.
• Experience with feedback loops and measuring impact.
• Strong testing discipline.
• Experience improving CI/CD or developer tooling.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Generalist attitude toward learning and growth.
• Experience with LLM/agentic tooling is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Build cost observability and usage-tracking tooling across LLM and agent workloads.
• Design and ship internal tooling and guardrails for safe agentic coding workflows.
• Evaluate AI tools, models, vendors, and provide build-vs-buy recommendations.
• Write and maintain production-quality code and automated tests.
• Review peers' code for correctness, readability, and maintainability.
• Own projects end to end from scoping through production rollout.
• Establish and socialise best practices for AI usage across the business.
